Locations

For the CoastScan project data is collected at three different locations.

Noordwijk (NL)

The laser scanner was mounted on the balcony of Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk until 21 June 2022 for a period of three years. In its field of view are the dunes, the beach, the intertidal zone and the beach café Breakers Beach House. The scanner has been taking one scan every hour, 24 hours a day since 10 July 2019, with one short interruption for technical reasons in the summer of 2020.

Oostende (BE)

The laser scanner was mounted on a tall building in Oostende, Belgium for a duration of one year. From November 2017 to beginning of December 2018 a total of 1.5 TB of laser scanner data was collected in the form of one 3D scan per hour.

Kijkduin (NL)

The laser scanner was mounted on the roof of Hotel NH Atlantic for a period of six months (December 2016 – May 2017). A total of about 400 GB of laser scanner data was collected during this period.
