The ScanEx fieldwork campaign is taking place in February and March at our current study site in Noordwijk. Latest news on the fieldwork can be found in the News section.
- 30-01-2020: Initial measurements, before any equipment was placed on the beach.
- 04-02-2020: Set-up of weather station to monitor environmental conditions of laser scanner
- 07-02-2020: Two shipping containers are placed on the dry part of the beach close to the dune foot to observe sedimentation and aeolian transport in that area
- 07-02-2020: Two wooden boxes as scaled models of the container are placed next to the shipping containers (ShoreScape).
- 09/10-02-2020: Storm Ciara with wind speed up to 120 km/h (reported by KNMI)
- 13-02-2020: Pressure sensors are installed in the intertidal zone to measure wave heights and lengths as well as tides.

- 20-02-2020: Reflectors are placed on the container and in the dunes to collect data for an error budget of the permanent laser scanner
- 20-02-2020: Cameras are placed on the balcony, next to the permanent laser scanner to observe the beach and waves
- 23-02-2020: Another storm hit the coast with wind speeds up to 130 km/h
- 24-02-2020: Posts of pressure sensors in the intertidal zone were fixed and straightened. They had been tilted and bend during the latest storms
- 25-02-2020: Scanning of latest storm effects with second laser scanner
- 04-03-2020: Scanning with second laser scanner
- 14-03-2020: Scanning with second laser scanner
- 19-03-2020: Stop recording of data from weather station (available data from 04-02-2020 – 19-03-2020)
- 28-04-2020: Shipping containers and pressure sensors were removed (end of ScanEx)
